Igniting Change with Hepatitis B Awareness

In 2014, a vision was brought to life amid the pain of personal loss. Layal Kazouh, who founded LNHF to focus on hepatitis B awareness, identified a critical need during her dissertation research. The death of her half-sister in 2011 due to liver cirrhosis caused by the disease had fueled her interest in understanding and combating it. When the quest for substantial data led her to hospitals and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in Montserrado County, Liberia, she found a worrying gap.

A Mission Stemming from Compassion and Concern

The convoluted search for data illuminated a startling reality – an alarming lack of awareness about hepatitis B amongst the most vulnerable population. This discovery was not just an academic challenge for Layal but a clarion call indicating an urgent need for change.

The Birth of LNHF: Turning Learned Knowledge into Meaningful Action

Armed with her Master's degree in Epidemiology and a burning passion for making a difference, Layal did not simply lament the situation. Instead, she took decisive action by establishing LNHF. This initiative would be the vessel to navigate the troubling waters of hepatitis in Liberia. The focus was clear: to elevate awareness, educate inhabitants about the potentially fatal effects of the disease, and impart critical knowledge on preventing it.

Driving Change with Awareness and Education

ince its establishment, LNHF has relentlessly pursued its mission to make Liberia a hepatitis-free nation. Our efforts are rooted in the belief that access to vital health information is not merely optional but fundamental. The hope is that the disseminated hepatitis knowledge can create ripples of change, transforming the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
